So I knew how to upload pictures with out even knowing I did. Just go to your pictures on your iPhone and send one to your blogspot posting email, then use iBlogger to edit the post. That's what I just did with this one, and it works great.

Updated MacBook adds Nvidia 9400

So if you read blogs like tuaw or Appleinsider then I'm sure you know
about the MacBook upgrade.

This netbook is a good buy for Pros or people looking for Macs on the cheap. It comes with...
a pretty good graphics chipset (Nvidia 9400)
FireWire 400 (Click compare/complete specs)
2GB of Ram (667mhz DDR2)
120GB 5400rpm Hard drive
And a Core 2 Duo running at 2.0Ghz (1066mhz FSB)

Not bad for $1000, I would buy this and a WD Passport (320GB are about $100) and install the WD in the MacBook. Then you would have a 320GB internal and a 120 external(as long as the WD is SATA).

Also it will be interesting to see if it has a SATA DVD-Rom, then you could have two hard drives internally.

Beejive IM app

When I first saw the Beejive app on the iTunes app store I said I would never pay $15 for a IM app. Well after we spent $23 in extra text messages (over two months) I rethought Beejive and bought it.

My wife and I have been using it for two weeks now and we both love it. It has worked without a flaw and we can now send and receive pictures with ease. You can send voice recordings or sounds and smileys. I have used it to send text messages to friends and pictures to MMS phones, haven't received any yet but I would think it would work.

The coolest thing in Beejive is called ring when inactive, if you open the app and then hit the power button then it will make a noise when someone sends you a message. It's not Push Notifications but it will work for now.

Blogging from iBlogger

So I thought I would try iBlogger out on my iPhone, you can get iBlogger from the iTunes app store for $.99(at post time). So far I have to say it was worth the $.99 I paid for it but I wouldn't pay more. My biggest issue is you can't upload pictures, I can send a email with a piture to my custom address and add a new post that way, so why even buy this app.

Well you can edit the posts right on your iPhone, that's my favorite part. If I, well when I miss spell or miss type then I can fix it and not have to wait until I get home and use my laptop to do it.

If I could add on thing (other than piture upload) it would be spell check. I know the iPhone has auto correction but it would be nice to know that you didn't miss spell anything.

Use iWeb to make iPhone friendly web pages

I had a person asking how to use iWeb and make a iPhone (or mobile site).

Well it is easier than you think, go to any page in iWeb and click on “Inspector” (located at the bottom right) then in Inspector click on “Page/Layout” go to “Content Width:” and set it to 320. That is the width of the iPhone screen. Next I changed the font sizes, the title and the date are 24, with the title being bold, and the body is 18. I must say it comes out very good on the iPhone.

Sony trying to push out iTunes?

It seems to me that Sony wants to team up with others to push out iTunes down the road. They say that iTunes is the part of the problem, but I don't understand how that is. Doesn't anyone know how to record music from iTunes to a external source. Then it's DRM-free and can be put on what ever you want. Or do like I do and buy DVDs or CDs, then rip them to iTunes.

Take iPhone Screenshots

I found this by acident the other day...

To take a screen shot you first need 2.0 or newer, push and hold the home button then push the sleep/wake button (or also known as the power button). Now let go of both, the screen should have flashed (showing you that it had just taken a screenshot). Now go to you pictures app and then camera roll, the screenshot should be the last picture.

Turn off DashBoard in Leopard

If you're like me and have an older Mac (I have a 12" PowerBook) then you might like to know how to turn off Dashboard. Dashboard is a great set of apps, but if you don't use it, then it just uses ram and processor that could be used for other tasks.

First open Terminal.app

And type:

defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean YES

Then press enter

We have to reset the Dock for changes to take affect.

To do that, type:

killall Dock

Then press enter

And as always, how to turn it back on.

Type:

defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean NO

Then press enter

Once again we have to reset the Dock

To do that, type:

killall Dock

Now it's back.

Windows file sharing with iPhone iPod Touch

Remove Glass Dock in Leopard, 2D Dock

I have a 12" 1.5GHz PowerBook with Leopard on it, I felt that the Dock was slowing things down a bit. So I found out how to disable it...

Open Terminal.app

Type:

defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean YES

And press enter

We have to reset the Dock for changes to take affect.

To do that type:

killall Dock

And press enter

If you want it back to the 3D Dock then type:

defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean NO

Then press enter

We have to reset the Dock for changes to take affect.

To do that type:

killall Dock

Then press enter.

Categories almost like Finder for the iPhone/iPod Touch

So I don't mind using extended screen on the iPhone but I found an app today that is just sweet. It's called Categories.

I set it up with a File called iPhoneHD and placed it on the Home screen, then I filled it with all the apps I install for Installer.app.

But why stop there, then I added a file called games.

And then a File called Finder, I put all the iPhone apps I don't use all the time in there.

Can you see where I'm going here, a iPhone OSX. I've seen others (one in Installer.app) but they require blank apps and all kinds of different things, so I thought I would make my own, my own way.

If you would like to install this app on your iPhone/iPod Touch you can find it in Installer.app>System>Categories.

I used images from all over but the main source was Ultimate Leopard 2.0, made by the guys over at ipodtouchfans.

AFPd Apple Filing Protocol for iPhone and iPod touch

So your looking for away to trasfer files to and from you iPhone, well you could use Terminal and open SSH. Or you use AFPd Apple Filing Protocol for iPhone. Once installed (from a Jailbroken iPhone) you can share files with your Mac just like a Mac.

If you are looking for AFPd it can be found under Installer.app>Network>AFPd

Should you buy an iPhone?

Well I cannot decide for you but I can tell you about my experiences. I have been using Apple computers for a little over a year and I now work on Apple computers as a side job. I was on the internet that Jan. morning when they introduced the iPhone, I was so amazed I couldn't wait to get one.

So cut to July, I waited two weeks so I could play with it and test it in store before I bought it. I bought it and ran home and plugged it in to my computer (MacBook), for me it could not have been easier. I plugged it in, iTunes came up and I walked right through everything in about two minuets. I already had AT&T so I added the basic iPhone plan to my family plan, 200 texts, voice mail, and unlimited data (19.99/a month).

My first issue......

On the second day I had it I found that iPod software part would crash when loading some internet sites, not that bad, but it was annoying. (It seems to have been fixed in update 1.0.2)

My second issue......

I must tell you the truth here, this was my fault, I had hacked the iPhone and installed a SSH shell, so when I went to install update 1.0.1 it locked up and I had to restore it. (And then I re-hacked it LOL).

My third issue.....

I never liked that anyone around me could see my new text message, well I found away around that when I was playing with Passcode. If you do not want others to see your in coming love notes then turn on Passcode and select no under text preview.

Now I have heard other complaints, but that is all that I had. I'm sure if you Google "iPhone issues" you'll find all kinds, but remember that they maybe happening to two people or 200.

iPhone open in new Window!

So I like using Safari on the iPhone but one thing that I don't like is not being able to open link in new tab. I found a way to do it. Just drag this Open in New Tab to your bookmark bar and sync your iPhone.
